Nature Connections
The overall theme for this exhibit is the connection I see between people and nature, this can be seen by how all the pieces are portraits with a naturalistic aspect incorporated into the piece. I value nature and my loved ones a lot so the exhibits are of people I love, either it be family or friends surrounded by nature. I made six pieces in total using three different mediums which are charcoal, pastel, and watercolor. For each medium I made two pieces in order to create a theme within my mediums so the exhibit would look more uniform. When you first look at the exhibit the first thing you see is a heart because it is in the center of all the pieces, this is to represent my love of nature and those whom the pieces are based off of. The eye then goes clockwise starting from the Mother Nature piece and ending at the Forget Me Not piece. I made it so that the large, medium, and small pieces were all diagonally across from each around the heart in order to make sure the eye was drawn around the whole circle. I wanted the exhibit to look as if each piece was connected to the heart that represents my own. Looking vertically on the circle I made it so that all the mediums had its own column, so starting from the left it goes watercolor, pastel and charcoal ensuring that at least one of each medium connected to the heart. The intention of the heart added was to express how my love of my friends, family and nature helps connect all of them together. With the power of love and nature people from all over can come together.
