As I have said many, many times before, eyes have always held a high level of interest for me as I feel they can either express everything or nothing at all. There’s a certain sense of intrigue behind them that doesn’t give away every little detail at once. For my show, I wanted to try and capture this sense of mysteriousness and perhaps even alienate the eyes a bit in order to create a new experience for any viewers.
To enact this, I placed my largest piece somewhat in the center of all my other works in order to try and draw more focus to it as it is the piece with the least amount of color. To bring about a sense of unity, I hung all the other pieces circulating around the largest one, separating the reds to add more diversity. The first piece, though, or the one that was meant to draw attention first, is Green. Which, I think I accomplished by having it be the brightest and most delicate piece out of all of them. My purpose behind this was to try and ease the viewer into their experience without disturbing them too much… that’s for later.
I also have two artworks present that are obviously not of humans, I included these pieces in there for very specific reasons as well. In my opinion today, certain members of society, or rather, groups of society, have been acting rather demonically and trying to control things they have no right to. By replacing humans with demons I was trying to draw attention to these behaviors in a rather sneaky way..?
