What exactly is a flat lay?

It’s simply a collection of related objects shot on a flat surface from a birds-eye view. It is a really powerful way to tell a story in one photograph. Students were asked to use the idea of a flat lay to visually tell their own personal story. Objects collected and included were of personal significance and help to visually tell more about themselves.
