Celebrating 50 Years of Kellands: A Showcase of Memories, Culture, and Creativity
As part of our "Connecting Kellands" themed lessons - an inspiring initiative to bring our school and community together through learning, fun, and shared memories - our pupils have been busy creating a wonderful series of showcase events and performances to honour Kellands School’s 50th anniversary. These activities have celebrated our school’s rich history, culture, and achievements, fostering a sense of connection, pride, and joy across our community.
From Primary 1’s delightful birthday workshop to Primary 2’s heartfelt movie premiere, each event offered a special glimpse into what makes Kellands unique. Primary 3’s interactive lapbook reports and interviews with ex-pupils uncovered fascinating stories from our past, sparking curiosity and pride. Meanwhile, alongside the LGU, Primary 4 and 5’s lively school show, The Magic Kellands Key, brought decades of history, music, fashion, and inventions vividly to life through singing, dancing, and scenes inspired by Kellands’ log-books.
Finally, Primary 6 and 7 opened the doors to Unit 3 with an engaging walk-through exhibition. Their work took visitors on a dynamic journey through five decades of popular culture, fashion, music, art, and history—and even featured a lively flash-mob!
We invite you to explore the photos, videos, and highlights from these memorable events, celebrating the history, creativity, and community spirit that make Kellands School so special. Here’s to 50 incredible years - and many more to come!
Primary 1 hosted a special birthday workshop! During the session, they shared their learning about birthdays and took part in themed activities. Grown-ups had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of hands-on activities, such as crafting and writing, alongside their child. It was really a wonderful experience to mark the school's milestone birthday.
Primary 2 took a trip down memory lane and made their very own movie which included the pupils sharing their reflections and magic moments of what it means to them to be a Kellands pupil. To celebrate this, they invited their grown-ups in for some tasty treats, some kindness shanty sing-alongs and of course, to witness the premiere of their movie, 'Reflections on a half-century!' Now you too can reflect by watching it at home.
Primary 3 invited all their grown-ups to join them on a journey celebrating the history of Kellands! They worked together in groups to make interactive lapbook style reports on Kellands. Do you know the meaning of our school badge? Do you know who the first head teacher was? Did you know Mr Mollison's favourite school dinner? All this and more was revealed in their reports. The pupils also enjoyed interviewing some ex-pupils of Kellands from years gone by! Check out their video.
Primary 4, Primary 5 and the LGU invited their grown-ups into school to see their all-singing, all-dancing school show. An adventure that unlocks the magic of the decades since Kellands School opened its doors including world and local events, popular culture and scenes inspired from Kellands' own log-books from through the years. Ladies and gentleman, come feel the magic and enjoy, 'The Magic Kellands Key!'
Primary 6 and Primary 7 opened the doors to Unit 3 and invited their grown-ups in for a walk-through exhibition of their work exploring the five decades since Kellands school was born. A whistle-stop tour of popular culture, fashion, music, history and art. They even managed a flash-mob too. Check out what they got up to in the video.
