At Kellands, we are excited to introduce Connecting Kellands, a dynamic approach to interdisciplinary learning that enriches our pupils' education by linking diverse subjects, skills, and real-world experiences.
Connecting Kellands is a whole-school initiative that promotes how learning and skills can be applied both inside and outside the classroom. It encourages students to explore big questions, solve problems, and complete projects that connect different areas of their learning. This approach helps deepen understanding and makes learning more engaging and meaningful.
Frequency: Connecting Kellands is held once a year, typically during Term 3. However, the timing may vary depending on the chosen theme.
Focus: Each Connecting Kellands is centred around a theme, linking different curriculum areas and DYW (Developing the Young Workforce) skills such as resilience, teamwork, and creativity.
Activities: Students may participate in diverse activities, assemblies, social and local community projects, all connected by the central theme.
Pupil-Led: Initiatives are led by pupils, with teachers and specialists supporting and guiding the process.
Connecting Kellands offers numerous benefits:
It provides opportunities for pupils to apply knowledge practically.
It encourages teamwork, project management, and digital skills.
It fosters a sense of community and personal achievement.
It links academic learning to real-world experiences and careers.
