Substance Research Project
You will be learning about the effects of controlled substances on the body and the brain by doing your own research using the databases and websites that Ms. Lauchlan and Ms. Kitchen have selected for the project.
The assignment and rubric have been shared in your Health google classroom. Your group will have one shared document for note-taking.

Databases
Databases are a special type of website. They are only available to paid subscribers, so you usually need a login and password. Our databases are paid for by the state of Massachusetts and Arlington Schools. We pay for them so that students have access to quality information.
It is a good idea to check our databases when starting any research project.
Pebble Go Next will give you an overview for starting any research project. Middle school students need to log in differently than elementary school students.

Do NOT log in with Clever or Google
Type jabes for the Username and school for the password
Ask a teacher for help if it does not work.
Britannica School is different from the free Britannica you can access from Google. It has more information, images, and videos and important tools like built-in citations.
Dictionary
This project involves a lot of new vocabulary. It is important to understand what you are reading and VERY IMPORTANT to be able to pronounce the words correctly in your presentation.
Merriam Webster is an excellent online dictionary that can help you learn new words and offers pronunciations that you can listen to.
