MCBA is a book award program for Massachusetts students. Twenty-five books have been selected as candidates for the award. They are great books from all kinds of genres. One book will be selected as the winner for 2025 based on votes from students all over Massachusetts.
How does it work?
Any student who reads or listens to at least 5 of the books is allowed to vote.
Voting takes place in April -- and adults don’t get to vote!
All of the books are available on Sora. You may also borrow books from the public library or get your own copy from a book store.
THE EASIEST AND BEST WAY TO GET MCBA BOOKS IS BY READING OR LISTENING ON SORA!!
BORROWING MCBA BOOKS FROM GIBBS
Only one MCBA book can be checked out from the Gibbs library at a time.
MCBA books cannot be renewed (unless requested by a teacher).
Books will be kept on a special display in the library.
If a specific book is not available, you are encouraged to try another one or use Sora. They are all excellent books!
When to Visit the Library
Students are welcome in the library after the first bell on their way to Advisory, during a WIN block, or during any class period with a pass from a teacher.
When you come to the library with your class or with a signed pass from a teacher, you have many options.
