BEFORE you start writing, you should spend some time brainstorming your thoughts and ideas!
This is one of the most important steps! You should spend at least 15 minutes brainstorming. When you're done, you'll be ready to organize your ideas.
Remember, this is only the brainstorming phase, so there are NO bad ideas. Throw all your ideas out there!
It's important to consider all the possibilities, then you can narrow your ideas down to what you think works best for answering the prompt!
Check your notes from class (check Google Classroom or your teachers' websites)
Check resources such as SparkNotes if you can't remember specific details
Find a friend and brainstorm together
Make a list of anything you remember (ex. If the prompt is about a character, what is everything you know about them?)
If you need help connecting your thoughts, you could use one of these brain frames! -->
You will likely start to notice some connections between ideas, events, people, or themes. This will help you write your claim in the next step!
You know you are ready to organize your ideas when you can answer the question:
Do you have at least 5 ideas related to your plan?
