A long, rambling to-do list can seem intimidating, so limit your daily to-do list to just the 3 MOST important tasks.
Make your to-do list better by labeling each task based on its level of importance.
1 = Very important (need to do/due today)
2 = Somewhat important (need to do soon but can wait a day or two)
3 = Not important (can do later)
It can also be helpful to estimate how long the task will take. If you expect the task to take multiple hours, I would suggest breaking it down into smaller tasks.
Is it urgent (due soon) and/or important (need to do to be prepared for next lesson, major assignment, worth more points)?
First, complete tasks that are BOTH URGENT and IMPORTANT.
Second, complete tasks that are IMPORTANT but NOT URGENT.
Third, schedule a specific time to complete tasks that are URGENT but NOT IMPORTANT.
Fourth, complete tasks that are NEITHER URGENT NOR IMPORTANT.
