"Get Ready, Do, Done!" is a method developed by Sarah Ward (Cognitive Connections), to increase development of "future thinking" and planning. This strategy can be used to plan assignments and projects, as well as social activities and events. The key is to start with the end and plan forward, keeping the "future picture" in mind throughout the process.
Done ("future picture"): What will it look like when it's done?
Get Ready: What do I need?
Do: What are the steps? How much time will I need?
Use Get Ready, Do, Done to plan social events and outings.
Use Get Ready, Do, Done for assignments.
Consider...
What will the assignment look like in the end?
What are the parts?
How much time do I have?
What do I need to accomplish in that time?
Try it! Pick one of the templates below and make a plan!
