“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - Chronicles 7:14
Heal our Hearts, O Lord
February 2022
Dear Friends,
There is tension in the air! You can actually feel tension in society about religion going around. Maybe it’s because I’m from the older generation or something but the negative vibe is real.
I am startled by the amount of non-religiously affiliated people in our world today. There are many people who say that they have no faith practices in their life whatsoever—like 20-25%. I am also startled that this once very Christian nation presently has so much public rejection (media/politics) of its Christian cultural roots.
Heh ya’ll–We need to stay with the faith. God is calling us to stay in his army and fight the war against this culture of death. The world needs strong witnesses of faith, hope and love. Right now it is crucial that young people step up to be missionary disciples. We need high energy and creativity in evangelizing. We need joyful warriors for the Lord.
Archbishop Shaw High School’s number one goal–i.e. numero uno priority–is just this:
Form Men to be deeply connected to Jesus.
Our hope, our strength and the solution to society’s ills is Jesus Christ. All human culture is susceptible to sin and failure to the degree that it is not Christ-centered.
Jesus brings hope. Jesus brings joy. Jesus brings truth! Jesus brings peace!
We must strive now to re-create a culture of Christian discipleship that is founded upon the sacrificial love of Christ. We can get the kind of love necessary to reverse things by relying totally on Christ and staying in union with Him. Let’s all strive to make that happen.
Archbishop Shaw --- never lose sight of Christ.
God Bless You.
In Jesus and Mary,
Fr. Steve Ryan,
Head of School
