O GOD,
who raised up the Priest
Saint John Bosco
as a father and teacher of the young, grant we pray, that, aflame with the same fire of love, we may seek out souls and serve you alone.
AMEN.
On January 31st, the worldwide Salesian community celebrated the Feast of Saint John Bosco, patron and founder of the Salesian order. Archbishop Shaw and Academy of Our Lady, our sister school, were no exception. Students participated in a week of prayer, celebration, and fun in honor of the influential saint who famously exhorted his boys to "run, jump, shout, but do not sin".
Building a spiritual toolbox is not only for building lives of virtue and avoiding sin, but to live out those lives with the joy and confidence in the Gospel of the everlasting love of God. It is with great thanks to Saint John Bosco that Salesians around the world have a chance to live out this truth every single day.
We take a moment to reflect on the activities and graces of that week in this issue of EXCELSIOR; we earnestly hope to share the joy we get to live out every day with you, our dear reader.
