INTERNAL TRAITS
Feeling traits like happy, sad, lonely, excited.
Personality traits like generous, thoughtful, kind and mean.
What other internal traits could we use in our writing?
EXTERNAL TRAITS
Physical features like hair colour, eye colour, height, weight, any observable physical features.
External traits can also include any words from the text that describe actions - rock collector, book lover, baseball player, etc.

SPEECH (“”), EXCLAMATION (!) & QUESTION (?) MARKS
(WALT) We are learning to:
use speech, exclamation and question marks when using dialogue in our writing.
What are some examples of indirect speech in your writing?
Identify 3 things that are important when using direct speech in your writing?
Why is important to have a comma (,) in these sentences?
How can you use an exclamation mark in your writing to show surprise, astonishment or urgency? .
If the section inside the speech mark is a question then the question mark goes inside the speech marks.
E.g. Moana shouted “Where are you?”.
If the section inside the speech marks is not a question, but the whole sentence is a question, the question mark goes outside the speech marks.
E.g. Did Maui realised how loud he shouted “I am not going”?
