BATESVILLE CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL

Batesville Charter High School (BCHS) serves students in grades 9-12 in Batesville, Arkansas. BCHS is a district conversion school sponsored by the Batesville School District. As an FY2021 APSRC CSP subgrantee, BCHS received $1,152,425.12 in November 2021.

Mission Statement

The mission of Batesville High School is Empowering Today's Students for Tomorrow's Challenges; Every Student Growing Every Day. To empower students for the challenges they will face, Batesville High School provides real-world experiences and personalized opportunities for students to enter college and the workforce. The mission statement puts students first and focuses on educating and caring for the whole child in academics, social-emotional support, and physical well-being.

ESTABLISHED CAREER AND TECHNICAL PROGRAMS


BCHS established an approved Career Technical Education (CTE) sequence of courses for three new career areas of Aviation, Medical, and Audio Journalism with the use of research-based curricular materials.

Young Aviators Class

Military veteran, educator, and pilot Clint Howard will be teaching the aviation/STEM class. Classes will be held from 1 p.m-3 p.m. on July 26-28 at OIRM and from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Batesville Regional Airport on July 29. Friday’s class will include a tour of the Batesville Regional Airport. Class size is limited to 15 students. Howard is the aviation instructor at Batesville High School and the owner of Oakwood Aviation Services. Participants will learn about the history and science of flights. Museum activities will include forces of flight, aviation weather and navigation. Students will also use various drones and the museum’s flight simulator.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

BCHS instituted a strong career exploration and guidance program that has ties to the community with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and higher education institutions resulting in career coursework enhancement based on local community needs.

BCHS established concurrent credit opportunities with local higher education partners while adding a regional university partnership with Arkansas State University.
