Heritage has adopted the Problem/Project Based Learning (PBL) approach for STEM education. Students are engaged in PBLs three to four times a school year. The units last approximately six weeks. To support inclusion among our special needs students, they are integrated with other students and given extra support from the special education staff. The support includes but is not limited to an adult working with the group to ensure that the students’ ideas are heard and review the concepts with the students prior to the lesson being taught or researched. This ensures that all students have equal opportunities to engage and experience the joy of STEM.
