Self-Paced Courses

The Skill Progression Framework at the Education Technology Department provides progressive learning opportunities for teachers that are layered, tiered and differentiated.

Our goal is to promote and recognize your achievement and advancement through a set of Digital skills within our our newly established Skills Progression Framework. The new program structure teaches educators how to use and implement Apple, Google and other supported digital tools into learning environments through the following progression of courses: 

Explorer Courses

Explorer Courses provide a general overview of Google,  Apple and other supported tools for educators focusing on the tool's basic functions. (teaching the use of the tool itself). Since Explorer courses are involved and contain a lot of content, we have created differentiated versions of the courses. Participants can choose to learn either  Face-to-Face, through a Webinar or Self-Paced Online.

In Face-to-Face or Webinar options, participants can attend a district scheduled training or request a personalized training for their site. This can be attended either individually, in grade-level or small group teams or as a whole staff training. Certified trainers from our department will walk through the use and implementation of the tool and how it can best be used in your Educational setting. After attending these session, participants will receive a digital badge. 

In an online Self-Paced format, the Explorer courses are delivered through the Canvas LMS and signed up for within Powerschool. All on-line trainings are designed to be self-paced and include different modalities of learning. Choose to learn the content within a slide presentation, in a written document or by watching a video. If a learner chooses to take the quick assessment at the end of each course, they will be given a digital badge.

After completion of the full Explorer course, either Face-to-Face, within a webinar or through the online digital format, all participants will be able to receive the explorer digital badge for any content areas they have attended.

PLUS Courses 

Our PLUS Courses teach educators how to apply Educational Technology  tools in a learning environment in practical and varied ways. Educators will learn advanced functions of the tools along with elevated integration techniques to be able to adopt them into a complex learning environment.

The PLUS course is designed as the “next level” of digital integration. The course consists of a compilation of examples for a specific digital tool. The examples are to help teachers decide how to incorporate and build their own digital asset to use in their learning environments. For PLUS courses we have created differentiated versions of the courses. Participants can choose a Face-to-Face, Webinar or Online option again. 

Similar to Explorer Courses, participants can request a Face-to-Face or Webinar option of the training. We will share various exemplars and ideas of how to use a specific digital tool for a variety of purposes, as well as how to use that tool.

For the PLUS courses online courses the leaner will browse through the various exemplars and quick "how-to" videos and training resources that will assist and hopefully inspire them to create their own digital template of an asset to use. 

PLUS Badges- Unlike with explorer courses which incorporate a quick assessment, PLUS badges require participants to upload a link to a created asset in order to receive the PLUS badge.
