Inlay/Mishima with wax: Mishima is a technique of inlaying slip or underglaze into the main clay body of the pottery piece. This technique creates extremely fine, intricate design work with hard, sharp edges that can be difficult to reliably replicate in any other way.
Sgraffito: in Italian "to scratch" is a decorating technique created by applying layers of underglazes to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath.
Rainbow Sgraffito: Same as above, but layering different colors on top of each other, then scratching at an angle to reveal all colors underneath
Underglaze transfer: a technique that involves screen-printing or painting a pattern onto a transfer paper with underglaze (often rice paper or newspaper) which is then placed, dampened, and burnished onto the surface of a leather-hard piece of clay (similar to how a fake tattoo might be applied).
Stencil: a technique for reproducing a design by putting the a cut out design on the clay and underglazing on top of it. Usually it is cut out of paper, cardboard, metal, or a hard plastic.
Painting: Creating a "painting" using underglaze.
