Capstone Process
Major Components of the Capstone Experience
Each student must complete the following steps:
Reminder: Groups are limited to 2 students and both students must share the same adviser. While students may be working in a group, each person is responsible for submitting their own authentic written work.
Step 1: Selecting an Adviser to help you navigate the Capstone experience
Step 2: A Project Proposal which delineates the focus and four learning goals for their project. Two of your learning goals must be connected to the SWHS Portrait of a Graduate.
Step 3: Research Logs which document the information gathered as the student works towards completing their project.
Step 4: Completion of Capstone Project / Work Logs or Time Log where the student carries out the project that was designed or completes the hours required of a job shadow/community impact project. To keep track of this process the student will be completing a work log or time sheet verifying the number of hours that were spent on the job shadow experience, community impact project or student interest project.
Step 5: A Reflection Paper where the student makes connections between their project and the importance of individual learning, collaboration and being a life-long learner.
Step 6 An Oral-Visual Presentation where the student takes their audience through the process they used to reach their four learning goals, their struggles and achievements along the way and highlights their new learning.
All work is to be submitted via Google Classroom. Remember to reach out to your adviser frequently for help.
