Community Impact Project Engagement in the Community
Requirements
The focus of the South Windsor High School Capstone Community Impact Project is to engage each student in a personalized learning experience. This project allows students the opportunity to apply their social, civic, and academic skills while exploring an area of interest outside the boundaries of their formal educational program.

participation in a community impact project.
What is a Community Impact Project?
The Community Impact Project is any carefully monitored service experience in which an individual has intentional learning goals and reflects on what they are learning through the experience. Students that choose this option will identify, research and undertake a project to impact a particular issue in the community .
Types of Community Impact Projects:
Relay for life / Bark for life - Cancer awareness
Clinics - instruction for youth sports, activities, etc...
Soup Kitchen - Hunger and Homelessness
Community Impact Project Requirements
15 hours must be at the place of your community impact experience. These 15 hours must be documented and signed off by a supervisor or facilitator
Options for Community Impact Project
Summer School Year (senior year)
2 hrs per week 2+ hours per week
Must get prior approval.
*All Community Impact Project hours must be completed after the student’s proposal has been approved.
Documentation
Complete the documentation time log verifying the number of hours that you completed of community service.
