The purpose of the 5 Non-Instructional days in the 2025-2026 calendar for NIDES teachers:
August 27th– Non-Instructional day. Teacher attendance is required. This day is organized by administration in consultation with school PD committees (where applicable).
October 10th and January 23rd – Flex PD days with no attendance required (optional to fulfill spring break 10 hours). Teachers in full time contracts must complete 10 hours of PD between July 1, 2025 and Feb 28, 2026 (*Note that these are different than the Flex PD Days for the rest of the district - those take place on Aug. 27 and 28.)
October 24th – Provincial PD day – Teacher attendance is required (built into your FTE). Teachers are encouraged to engage with provincial conferences, learn with colleagues locally, or do self-directed PD work.
February 17th – District PD Day – Teacher attendance is required (built into your FTE). Organized by Joint PD committee. Teachers can attend, learn with colleagues locally, or do self-directed PD work.
