Our K-9 programs follow the British Columbia curriculum. The new curriculum allows for flexibility as one works through the Big Ideas and the Curriculum Competencies. Our programs encourage teachers and parents to work together to create learning that is personal, engaging and robust.
Communicating Student Learning K-9 – NIDES Guidelines
The goal of communicating student learning is to ensure that:
• students take part in meaningful conversations that help them develop responsibility for engaging deeply with their learning
• parents and caregivers are well informed, are involved in decisions and dialogue about their child’s learning, and understand ways to support and further their child’s learning
If you need assistance with MYEDBC, please contact Registrar at registrar@sd71.bc.ca
A Student Learning Plan is a working document designed to provide a record of prescribed learning outcomes in each subject area and is based on your child’s grade level.
General Requirements:
The home facilitator(s) and teacher work together to develop and personalize this written record which outlines the plan for your child’s learning-incorporating big ideas, content areas, and learning standards from the new BC curriculum.
During the initial SLP meeting, student interests, hobbies, learning style, strengths, and areas of growth will be discussed in order to determine specific learning resources the learner may find useful
This living document will change throughout the school year as the student’s interests and learning needs develop and change.
Evidence of Engagement:
Evidence of Engagement should consist of one dated example of Student work in numeracy and one dated example of Student work in literacy, if appropriate per a student’s IEP.
Important Information:
Students are required to complete Evidence of Engagment (see SLP) in order to access Student Learning Resource Funding.
Funds available for request with full-time enrolment
