Sorting means that we are telling Aspen to put the data in order. Sorts can be either Ascending (1, 2, 3 or A, B, C) or Descending (3, 2, 1 or C, B, A). The sorted field is indicted by a small triangle (or inverted triangle for a desending sort).
How to Sort
Sorts may be set in two ways in Aspen.
1. The default sort the first sort listed in the Sort Order menu. Users can choose any other sort order from the menu. In the example below, "Name" is the default order.
2. The quickest way to change the sort order is to click on the field heading. This acts a toggle between ascending and descending sorts.
Notes about Searching using the menu bar:
Aspen will search for matches in the SORTED COLUMN. To change the search column, click the header for the field you wish search. The sorted column is identified with a small triangle. The input box will also show the name of the field that will be searched.
