Summer Reading
By: Olivia T.
Do you read over the summer? Reading is very important, it helps you gain a higher vocabulary and you can learn new things anytime and in any book. Many kids don't read over the summer because they see it as schoolwork or homework, but it is not like you have to write a whole essay on the books you read for fun.
Reading over the summer is not homework but it does keep your brain active so you do not lose any reading skills and so your brain is not completely rusty by the time school starts back up. When you pick up a book over the summer it does not have to be a full on six hundred page book but it should also not be a graphic novel. Pick up a book that is on your level and your preferable genre. Over the summer you should read at least four to five books, you can also read more if you want, it’s up to you. There is no rush though, you have three free months of no school work so when you become bored put your phone down and pick up a book.
Stuff You Need
by:Lucas Raven
For the upcoming MPMS students there are a couple things that you should have for your upcoming school year.
You need something to write with. Both years I've been at MPMS I rarely have pencils. I always have to ask my teachers to borrow one and most of the time depending on the teacher they would say no and i wouldn't have anything to write with and wouldn't be able to do my work and i would try to remember to do it at home but throughout the day it would slip my mind and I would forget. Then the teachers would mark it missing and I wouldn't be able to turn it in and i would have a risk of getting a zero for the semesters and that can really impact your grade. You will need like 3 pencils a day and I would recommend a pencil pouch.
You also need something to eat throughout the school day because everyday I am very hungry after 7th period.
And for the last of the few things I'm naming for stuff you would need.
You need deodorant and perfume/cologne because if you participate in gym you're definitely not gonna smell good.
