Pterodactyls

Dinosaurs were the theme for our Spring Scholastics Book Fair. Students worked in groups to create pterodactyl sculptures without any prior instructions. Students chose their own materials (boxes, cardboard, Styrofoam, newspaper, balloons, paper mache, fabric, and paint) and had to problem solve and learn from trial and error to make their sculptures. What made this project interesting to me was seeing the methods students used and the unique styles that developed. I was pleased to see students use what they learned from making Piñatas in Spanish class to make the pterodactyl heads.

The pterodactyls were hung in the breezeway to soar through a canopy of vines!
