New build

Opening ceremonies for our new school will be held in December 2019.

A 70 page Education brief informed the design. This was created from input by students, whanau, teachers, curriculum and senior leaders at Aotea College. Ngati Toa as mana whenua was also consulted from the outset.

Strong themes repeatedly came through from the consultation including a desire for collaboration but also a desire for retaining flexibility in the design that allowed the best of traditional teaching and learning to continue. The need to provide spaces for independent learning was also a strong theme. The buildings we are moving out of are poorly designed, constructed and maintained. The new buildings are designed for us and will allow us to continue the current strong teaching and learning with the increased flexibility.
