I would like to share with you resources for coping with and managing anxiety for children. During this time, our lives as we know them have drastically changed. School, play, activities, etc. have all been put on pause. Parents are working from home, students are homeschooling, trips to the outside are limited, it's a scary time. And as much as we parents try our best to explain what is going on in the world, some children may struggle to understand and cope with the change. The change and unknown can easily cause some anxiety for them. How do we help our children to cope? Below are some resources I hope are helpful for you! As always, please don't hesitate to ask any questions or to reach out if needed.

Circle of Control
One important trait to have as a counselor is to be honest with my students. Children may discuss situations and feelings that they are dealing with and it's important for you as a parents to be honest with them. If you can't help your child "fix" the issue, then explain to them that although there are things that you can't control, there are some things they can do personally to help them deal with whatever situation/feelings they may have. Using this visual of "Circle of Control" is helpful in showing your child what they can and can't control and will help to provide different options on how to handle the situation.
