Active Schools Awards 2024-25
Community Voluntter & School Sport Volunteer of the Year for 2025 - Lettie Stewart of Kirrie Netball team who volunteers at Southmuir Primary School...Congratulations!!!
It was another busy academic year, with lots of extra-curricular activity and school events across primary and secondary schools in Angus. These are supported by the many volunteers and community clubs that support school sport provision and have once again had an amazing impact on the lives and physical activity levels of children across Angus.
These awards recognise the wide range of volunteering and community contributions to our school sports and physical activity offer here in Angus. This year we were delighted to have Kilmac sponsor the awards, allowing us to present each award winner with an engraved glass trophy. Liam Wilkie joined former award winners for a phot and provided these words...“Kilmac are extremely proud to be main sponsor for the Angus Active Schools Awards 2025. The work that everyone carries out is fantastic and keeps our kids active, fit and happy. It’s a pleasure to be able to support this and see personnel rewarded for all their hard work and effort given throughout the previous year.”

Angus schools achieve Gold School Sport Award
A number of schools successfully achieved their sportscotland flag for achieving the sportscotland Gold status for the school sport award. The awards are a planning tool that gives schools the chance to identify their strengths and areas of improvement and create a development plan and ensure that health & wellbeing is a key focus for staff and pupils at their school. The key element to the school sport award is having pupils at the centre of the decision making and putting things in place, and using the awards as a tool to plan and implement change rather than just gaining the award.
In the final term Airlie Primary, Newtyle Primary, Tannadice Primary all received their Gold sports award flag, just in time for end of term services and celebrations.
This now brings the total in Angus to 16 primary schools & 1 secondary school achieving their gold award.
