General Information
Enrollment: When enrolling a student for the first time parents need to bring in a birth certificate and updated immunization record. Proof of residency is also required as it helps us to confirm that the student lives within Snow Springs’ boundaries. The office will request records from any previous school.
Change of Information: For communication and safety purposes, any time there is a change of information it should be immediately updated through the office and on Skyward. This includes a change in address, phone number, emergency contact information, and who can check out the student.
Checking Students Out of School: If a child is to be taken out of school during school hours, District policy requires that a parent or a responsible person (an immediate family member 18 years or older, or someone named on the Emergency and Health Information Sheet) sign the child out in the office. Please do not go straight to the class. Proper documentation will be asked for when checking out a child.
Student Arrival at School: Supervision of students begins at 9:00 (8:55 for students eating school breakfast). It is a safety issue to drop your child off any earlier.
1.0 SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELFARE
1.1 Elementary students who are on school property shall be under the supervision of school authorities from the time school doors open--15 minutes before the starting bell sounds--until the end of the school day.
Phone Calls during school: Parents are asked not to call their child at school or leave messages unless it is absolutely necessary. A student must have a phone pass from the teacher (given only for emergency reasons) to use the phone. Also, it is an expectation for teachers to be attentive to their students during the school day. For that reason, teachers will return phone calls and respond to emails after school hours.
Visitors in the Building: All visitors in the building are asked to report to the office, sign in and wear a badge. Snow Springs’ staff highly encourages volunteers in the building. We do ask that you prearrange with the teacher your volunteer time. The staff is committed to ensuring and protecting the instructional workday; therefore, spontaneous classroom visits are not permitted because they disrupt the instructional program.
Lost and Found: Our lost and found is located to the southeast of the building, by the gym doors. Items will be kept there for a reasonable amount of time. They are sorted on a regular basis in order to return labeled items to their rightful owner. We ask that coats, hats, lunch boxes, sports equipment and the like be labeled with the student’s name so that we can get it returned to them. Any unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated to charity at Christmas break and at the end of the year.
