January 2023
January 2023
Message from the Principal:
I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and I also hope that 2023 brings you even greater blessings than you can imagine! As we embark on the second half of the school year, I encourage you to continue to be involved in your child's learning. Let your child know that you think their education is important and that homework is a priority. Be sure to ask about their daily assignments, and monitor their grades through PowerSchool.
Beginning tomorrow, ACHS will transition away from SMART Lunch and into something called FLEX time. Similar to SMART Lunch, FLEX is a time built into the daily schedule for teachers and students to work together outside of class time. It is a time for students to receive uninterrupted support. It will also be a time for students to complete work while at school to help free up their time after school. Teachers and students will use a computer program entitled Edficiency to CHOOSE where they will be during this time, each day. SMART Lunch worked well for a while, but is no longer serving students nor teachers to the level we desire. One noticeable difference is that FLEX time is removed from lunch time. Over the next two to three weeks, we will spend time introducing FLEX to students and reviewing the daily protocols. The new daily schedule is typed below:
Daily Schedule
1st Block
FLEX Time (35 Minutes)
2nd Block
3rd Block (With Lunches)
4th Block
Students will report directly to seminar tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. to receive a copy of their second semester courses/schedule.
Additionally, tomorrow is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and is the perfect time to say THANK YOU to our two first-rate school resource officers. Officer Mike Millsaps and Officer Chasity Hamby go above and beyond throughout not just the school year, but the entire calendar year, to support ACHS students. Please go out of your way to show your appreciation for these two amazing officers and even better people.
As always, thank you for your support of Alexander Central High School!
