February 2023
Message from the Principal:
Hopefully your second semester is off to a great start. We have many reasons to celebrate as our basketball teams, wrestling team, indoor track team, and swim team have been very competitive in conference play. Wrestlers Kanon Harrington, Dylan Dalton and Aaron Longinos all finished in first place at the Northwestern Conference tournament. Our competition cheer team won the NCCCA State Championship for Non-tumble D1 Gameday! Thanks to all those who supported the cheer team as they prepared for and competed at the state level!
Our Beta Club competed in 58 different competitions at the State Beta Convention. We finished in the top 5 in 15 different competitions. Meredith Miller won the Hannah Leitner Scholarship. Only two of these scholarships are awarded across the state, so we are VERY proud of her. Here is the way our Beta Club Finished:

Our team is raising money for Special Olympics of North Carolina! For more information, there is a wonderful video on our school Facebook page. To donate, visit this link.
February offers us the opportunity to recognize our outstanding School Counseling Department and our top-notch bus drivers. Both groups have a tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success. If you have contact with one of these individuals, I encourage you to tell them THANK YOU for the job they do. Valentines Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to show kindness and love. Please know, flowers (in glass vases), and balloons will not be permitted on school buses. If you send these items to your child at school, you will need to arrange for a different transportation method on that day.
I would like to thank you for the support of your child's education thus far. Much of our success is due to your active involvement. As we continue to work together, I trust this second semester will be a huge success!
