Podcasting 101

Dates: August 10-14 & August 17-21 (This is a two week camp and it is preferred that participants plan to attend both weeks.)

Time: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm

Grades: 6-10

Description: On Day 1, students will meet one another and do a quick recording exercise as an ice breaker. Students will then break into groups (2 to 4 students/group) and each group will be asked to come up with three podcast ideas. Groups will pitch their ideas and the cohort will choose the podcasts to move forward to production. We will then talk briefly about podcast structure and preparation; rolls of the producer, engineer, and hosts; and tops to improve audience engagement. Each group will then ready their podcast by creating a discussion outline, planning and rehearsing. Each podcast will be recorded using our Virtual Recording Studio. We also will explore audio waveforms, waveform editing, and multitrack production.
