I was born and raised in northern California, earned my Bachelor's degree from New York University, and moved to remote Alaska. While in Alaska I studied to become a teacher and then taught English to middle and high school students for 12 years. During this time, I met my husband, we had a daughter, and I earned my Master's of Education in Reading and became a certified Reading Specialist.

My name is Ms. Lea Anne Eaton. I am excited to be your grade 7 English teacher. This is my 16th year in the classroom and I love teaching English. We have some exciting books and projects this year, so I know it’s going to be a fun year!
I am a native of Virginia, but have taught (and lived) all over the world. I have taught grades 2-12 in America, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Saipan, and Saudi Arabia. Outside of school, I love to read, play with my dogs (I have four!), and travel. My favorite places to visit are London, England and Thailand.
I am also the summer camp director. If you're in town, we'd love to have you join us as a camper or CIT! Check out the activities and athletics page for more information!

I am originally from Canada, and have my Bachelor of Education from Canada. Since then, I have taught internationally, including in countries such as Uganda, Thailand and Oman. I’m looking forward to a lot of reading, writing and fun this year!

Middle School ELA Summer 2023 Assignments:
All AISJ MS scholars are encouraged to participate in the summer reading challenge. Click HERE for more information and directions on how to participate. Reading is the BEST way to prepare for middle school.
In addition to reading, scholars are encouraged to continue practicing on our two main platforms.
You can grow your vocabulary with Membean. Suggested training time is 20-30 minutes per week to keep your vocabulary skills strong.
Scholars can also complete adaptive practice on Freckle using the the "English" tab. Click "English", then choose your ELA practice: information text, literature, language, library, or word study. Complete 2-3 activities of your choice each week to stay on top of your reading, vocabulary, and grammar skills!
If you have questions as you work over the summer, reach out to Ms Eaton!
