ANNOUNCEMENTS

We started our week with Ms. Julie, learning about bus safety. With many of our stops being on route 9, bus safety is of utmost importance. Thank you to Ms. Julie for taking the time to teach us how we get on and off the bus and how to stay safe and responsible in our seat while she is driving.

Our writing workshop, as always, starts off with narrative writing. To start the year we focus on our illustrations, as they are an important part of storytelling.  This week we focused on how to draw bodies. We practiced on whiteboards and had fun adding details. 

Later in the week, we moved on to faces and hair. We read a book all about emotions, and learned how to illustrate those emotions on faces!

In math, we taught our new friends how to play Top-It (the game of war). We have a variety of card decks and had fun playing with a partner.

We then continued working on math workstations. To practice group work where I am working with learners, we played the game Sneaky Squirrel, a class favorite.

This week we started working on reading workstations while I either read with students or taught a fun new reading game that spans all reading needs for our classroom and is very fun!

We started our Maine Outdoor School classes this week with Hazel!  We had an amazing first day and I was so proud of how responsible and kind we all were.  We practiced observing the world around us and noticing and wondering about the nature around us.
