ANNOUNCEMENTS
📸 Tuesday, September 29: Picture day
Our writing this week continued with a focus on illustration. As we build our illustration skills, we will learn how to take what we’ve practiced and add meaningful details to our writing. These illustrations will help bring our writing to life!
In math this week, we started working in math groups! Our first unit, for all grades, focuses on "What is Math?". We practice a variety of skills and learn the format of our math books and lessons. We also conintued to introduce new math stations and math games.
In reading workshop we have been learning how to read a book. We learned that just like there is a right way to eat a banana (I took a big bite of the middle of an unpealed banana, much to everyone's dismay!), there is a right way to read a book. We also practiced turning pages, to help take care of our books, so they last for a long time and many readers can enjoy them!
During our reading workstations, we have started doing some word study with out new word study boards! They make word study even more exciting!
We have also fully set up our listening station!
We had a beautiful day for Maine Outdoor School on Friday! We started to learn about the difference between seasons and weather. We did many observations of what fall looks like and sounds like. We also each found a special tree that we will visit each week to watch the changes in our tree over the course of the year!
