Why study Personal Finance & Money Management?
This option will provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage your money well and make sound financial decisions. It will help prepare you for financial independence at university, at work and beyond.
You’ll learn negotiation skills for loans and mortgages, the financial crisis and resulting recession, how to make the most of your money, to live within your means and strategies of how to obtain assets and increase your individual wealth.
You will get to understand student finances, university fees and loans. As well as opportunities for careers and apprenticeship routes.

How is the course organised?
The topics covered within the course include:
Financial management:
Personal financial planning
Budgeting and financial management tools for managing money
Spending and borrowing
Public finance and the economy:
Social, political and cultural factors
Tax, political institutions and processes
Impacts on individuals, businesses and society
Exchange rates and trade
Assessment
There will be tests as the course progresses and students will have the option to enter and be certificated with the Level 2 Award in Financial Education (AiFE), awarded by the London Institute of Banking & Finance.
Time commitment
1 taught hour per week.
