AHS Routes
We offer two ‘routes’, depending on your GCSE performance. Obviously you will have to make your initial choices in December, based on how you think you will do; it will be possible to move from one route to another when results are published, as long as your new choices can be accommodated. You should not feel under any obligation to take Route 2 if you have 64+ points. Embarking on Route 2 is a commitment to completing 4 A Levels.
Route 1
Minimum 44 points from the best 8 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics with the appropriate grade requirements for each subject you wish to take for A Level
3 A Levels
1 Extension Study or Further Maths as a fourth A Level
Route 2
Minimum 64 points from the best 8 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics with at least a grade 7 in each of the subjects you wish to take for A Level
4 A Levels
Optional Extension Study
Further Maths could be taken as a fifth A Level
(Please note that for timetabling reasons, you cannot take Further Maths in addition to an Extension Study as the lessons take place at the same time.)
Supplementary Activities
Compulsory for both routes
Year 12 and Year 13 Current Issues Programme
Year 13 Community Involvement
Year 13 Extended Tutor Period
