Kindness: Central to our ethos, kindness is actively promoted through our Discovery Programme, which focuses on character development and social responsibility.
Courage: Students are encouraged to take bold academic and personal steps, challenging themselves to excel beyond their comfort zones.
Curiosity: We nurture a lifelong love of learning, empowering students to pursue inquiry and innovation both inside and outside the classroom.
For high-prior attainers, our Reach Programme provides tailored academic challenges, mentoring, and leadership opportunities, ensuring these students are fully equipped for top university applications and high-level career aspirations.
Our commitment to holistic education includes:
The Discovery Programme: A character-building initiative based on the value of kindness, promoting empathy, leadership, and community engagement.
The Futures Programme: A comprehensive careers curriculum that guides students in exploring potential career paths and making informed decisions about their future. It includes work experience, employer engagement, and tailored advice to ensure students are well-prepared for life beyond school.
We provide every Sixth Form student with the following support to ensure they achieve their academic and personal goals:
Guided Learning Hours:
Students receive dedicated teaching hours that meet or exceed Ofqual’s recommended guided learning hours for each subject.
Independent Study:
A minimum of 4 hours of directed independent study is assigned per week, per subject, ensuring students develop strong self-management and critical thinking skills.
Supervised Study Sessions:
At least 1 hour per week is allocated to supervised study within school hours, providing structured time for reflection and task completion.
Access to Study Materials:
Students are provided with resources and materials to support additional independent study and develop deeper subject knowledge.
At the core of our Sixth Form offer is our commitment to STEM excellence. Our curriculum focuses on providing students with high-level skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, areas critical for future innovation and economic growth. By fostering a culture of inquiry and technical expertise, we prepare students for success in competitive and evolving fields that shape the future of society.
Encourage all students to achieve to their potential and beyond.
Encourage students to become independent workers and independent thinkers.
Equip students with the skills required for progress into the ‘adult world’.
Foster an ethos where students are nevertheless challenged to move beyond their perceived boundaries.
Many students at Kingsley Academy are entitled to the 16-19 Government Bursary Fund for students from low income families and children in care. Details of how to apply are found in the Student Information Booklet provided to all students. Students are also able to apply via a Form in the Year 12 and 13 Google Classroom. This bursary helps with educational costs throughout the academic year.
Full details can be found here: www.gov.uk/1619-bursary-fund . Students will need to re-apply for the bursary each academic year.
Each year large numbers of students join us from other schools in the area and even from abroad. We find that all students quickly settle into the Sixth Form and become part of the very diverse student body that makes our school so special. For further information, please contact us. Students must meet the course requirements and provide a reference from their previous school.
