Religious Diversity statement of intent:
Learning to appreciate although we belong to different religions; we share a common thread of love, concern, equality, support and respect.
All children need to acquire core knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and practices of the religions and worldviews which not only shape their history and culture but which guide their own development. The modern world needs young people who are sufficiently confident in their own beliefs and values that they can respect the religious and cultural differences of others, and contribute to a cohesive and compassionate society.
Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews
Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews
Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews
What it looks like in the classroom…
EYFS - It is taught through continuous provision and the environment enables this to be done at all times. In addition, we plan adult initiated activities that teach specific social and emotional skills.
Key Stage 1 - Weekly ½ hour sessions
Key Stage 2 - Fortnightly one hour sessions
At Hockley Primary School we have mixed-age classes. As a result of this we use a two year rolling programme (Cycle A and Cycle B). Mastery approaches, higher standards and depth (rather than coverage) agendas are paving way for greater conceptual understanding in foundation subjects for all.
Subject organisation
The subject is taught by the class teacher, who follows plans outlined in our progression map.
The subject leader is able to access examples of work, planning and displays across all phases and ensure progression is being made. This can be done digitally and accessed through our Ofsted Framework or alternatively through termly classroom visits.
