Modern Foreign Languages 

At Four Dwellings, our pupils have the opportunity to receive specialist teaching of a language. A language-rich curriculum is on offer, providing our pupils with cultural exposure, through the teaching of speaking, listening, reading and writing of the French language. Through language rich lessons, children begin to develop an understanding and an appreciation for a second language and its grammatical structure. As a result, our pupils gain a deeper understanding of their own language, developing greater confidence and communication skills along the way.

Our curriculum will enable pupils to:

• be a confident and resilient learner; be inquisitive;

• be willing to take risks and push their limits;

• see mistakes as a learning opportunity;

• be a confident and effective communicator in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts;

• be able to use languages spontaneously; 

• embrace and celebrate other cultures and languages;

• recognise the advantages of language learning and the opportunities it can bring, in travel, employment and personal enjoyment.
