David Hatchett - Director of Standards and Inclusion

David Hatchett joined AET in December 2017 as National Director of Secondary Schools, a role he held until September 2021, when he took up a new role as Director of Standards and Inclusion. As National Director of Secondary Schools, David had responsibility and accountability for the Trust's national portfolio of secondary schools. Prior to AET, David spent over five years at E-ACT, another large national academy trust, where he held senior or executive level roles including Deputy Director of Education, National Director of Quality Assurance, Regional Director of Education and as an Interim Principal. David has been a Trustee for the national charity Parentkind since 2020.

Earlier in his career, David was Head of Test Development with Pearson and Edexcel. This included responsibility for a number of high profile, large-scale national and international assessment programmes, including the Key Stage 2 & 3 National Curriculum tests ('SATs'), the Basic & Key Skills tests and a testing programme in the Middle East.

David's experience also includes many years of leading and participating in Ofsted inspections, teaching and leadership roles in schools, as an examiner and co-author of a series of textbooks. Until recently, he spent 12 years as a Governor and corporation member on the Board of a successful sixth form college, and is a qualified and experienced project and programme manager.
