S:t Eskils Gymnasium
Located in the centre of town, S:t Eskils Gymnasium is one of seven 16 - 19 high schools in the city of Eskilstuna, Sweden. The school was initially founded as a catechist school in 1814, and changed its orientation several times, before finally becoming a communal school in 1966. It was officially named S:t Eskils Gymnasium in 1967. Several different programs are currently taught at the school, with some taught through the Swedish language, and others taught through English. Currently the Nature Program, International Baccalaureate, Economy Program and Social Program are taught through English, while our Aesthetic and Hotel & Tourism Programs are taught in Swedish. We also have a significant Language Introduction Program that is focused on pupils who have recently arrived in Sweden, but who do not yet possess the Swedish required to attend regular high school. The school prides itself on being a forward thinking, progressive school that was the first in the world to offer separate changing facilities to transsexual pupils.
We offer education in English to allow our pupils to become more active global citizens, and part of this education is a cross-curricular focus on climate change.
One of our wonderful pupils created a short online book highlighting some of the best features of our school and town. Feel free to have a quick look.
