Challenge 3: Hire Me! Earn money!
Skills:
Find opportunities
Negotiate a deal
Deliver the deal
Pre-requisite: some understanding of money units. E.g. Two dollars can buy a cheeseburger.
Activity (10 mins setup, 30+ mins child working independently, 10 mins discussion):
Create a list of jobs. E.g. House chores (beyond the usual daily chores), singing Happy Birthday to grandparents, babysitting siblings, etc.
Propose the idea to your child:
"Would you like to earn some money?"
"Here are a list of jobs, or you can propose something yourself."
Allow child to negotiate. As the person hiring, you can negotiate back.
You want to ask for clarity.
We recommend using SMART Goals format: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.
Step back and allow your child to work!
Celebrate with using the money earned on the next meal order!
Discussion Questions (during meal time):
How much amount of work does it take to earn a meal?
What other jobs you can do?

Tips for Parents:
Ideally, create a job that is real. Meaning: there is a real-world substitute and people working such roles.
Be specific on "the Job"
Use visual tools to uphold standards:
Clocks or timers for time
Pictures to show clean areas or desired outcomes
Uphold standards with an encouraging tone.
"You can do it!"
Celebrate effort
Have Fun. Share your experience with friends / social media!
