Challenge 1: Know the menu & price
Skills:
Prioritizing what you want
Know how to choose with clear why, and plan it with clarity
Compare prices (if child is old enough)
Activity (10 - 20 mins):
Parent set time with children.
Introduce activity: “Today we are going to look into McD for dinner.”
Show the menu and let child choose
Have conversations in between
Discussion Questions:
“Will you choose A product or B product?”
“Why?”
“What if Product A (child’s choice) is not available, what will you choose?”
“If you choose Product A, B, and C... Which one will you eat first, why, and next?”
Ordering!
Once you know your child is clear about what he/she's going to order. Invite them to take a challenge: "Now that we know what we want --- Shall we order?"
Hand over device and allow the child to take charge as much as possible
Refrain from helping. Instead, say: "I trust you can figure out. I'm here for you." or provide choices to let the child decide: "Will you choose A or B?"
Help only when requested twice or dealing with sensitive information, like entering credit card details.
