For this project we will be creating video games based on our identity. It might be a challenge we face or something that is a part of who we are. We started this project on September 12
Games that have been important in my life:
basketball, soccer, baseball, Blades of Steel, FIFA, NCAA College Football, PacMan, Space Invaders, Pickaxe Pete, Mike Tyson's Punchout, Flashlight tag, canasta, solitare, Minesweeper, Combat, Pong
What makes a good game...
I think a good game is competitive and challenging. There should be obstacles that are not easy to figure out. A good game also is easy to understand how to play. Maybe the first level or opening part of it teaches you how to play if it is a video game. I also like games that I can play with other people. Those games need to have a clear way to take turns or to work together toward a single goal.
Playing cards with my granddad was one of my favorite things growing up. We’d play for what seemed like hours, and almost always have Oreos while we played. The game helped me learn strategy and to pay attention to what my opponent was doing, guess what they might have.
Blades of Steel was our favorite game to play. Jeremy was my best friend growing up and we’d play this game together until we got so mad at each other one of us would quit. It helped me work a little on self-control and recognizing limits for talking trash and staying friendly.
Pickaxe Pete was the first game on the only gaming console my parents ever got us. The Odyssey 2. It was pretty terrible, but at least we had something to play. It was pretty much a Donkey Kong rip-off.
Flashlight tag was the game of choice in the neighborhood or when family friends came over growing up. Running around the yard at night hiding and chasing each other was such a blast. This was about strategy and stealth, and dodging low-hanging tree limbs.
Monopoly. The game of capitalism. It seemed so fun growing up, but it really just teaches you to be greedy and that the rich get richer off the poor.
Soccer and basketball were the sports I played growing up. I loved them both for the competition, individual skill development and being part of a team. I think this is a space where I learned to find my own limits and how to challenge myself to get stronger and better with practice.
This is the current status of my game. The first level works with food appearing and disappearing as well as Covid moving through the spaces. However, I have a glitch when it is supposed to switch to level two. I think I know why it is happening, but I need to watch some tutorials to figure out how to fix it.
This is what happens when you add something to your Footer.
