The Presentation Evening happens in March and attendance at the Personal Project Display Evening is compulsory for all Grade 10 students.
During the evening, you will remain at your display, ready to answer questions and explain aspects of your project to visitors. You will be expected to ‘dress to impress’ (similarly to the expectations for the Personal Project interview) and be polite, engaging and pleasant.
Each student sets up a display in the PAC (Performing Arts Centre) which contains their product/outcome (or evidence of it), their process journal and their final report. You will be given one display board and a desk in order to display your Personal Project.
The Personal Project displays are usually left up until the end of the week, depending on the PAC availability. This allows for moderation and for classes (such as the Lower School and next year’s Grade 10s) and ACS staff to view the projects. Consider this in planning your display.
Your display must include:
You do not need to have EVERY detail of your Personal Project on the display – remember, the point of this is to show clearly and simply the evidence of your project. Don’t put pages and pages of printouts – the focus is on EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION of what you did.
1. Your display should:
2. Attracting attention with colours and pictures:
3. Size:
It is important to ensure your display fits your display area accurately. If it is too small it will look ‘lost’ compared to other displays. If it is too large it will not fit and will also risk being damaged. You need to design your display in ‘portrait’ style as opposed to ‘landscape’ style.
4. Think border!
A border around your display can make it look ‘polished’ and professional. Be creative with border designs and colours.
5. Written text should:
6. Durability!
Avoid your display becoming tatty. After your display has been up for a day or so, it may begin to look old and tatty – borders peel off, pictures curl up, that wonderful 3D shape you used becomes too heavy for the glue and falls down. Rips occur, pages fall off…
Don’t ‘rush’ it.
Here are some examples of great displays from previous years:
