Supervisors play an important role in the Personal Project process, offering advice and expertise to their students.
You DO NOT have to be an expert in the topic chosen by the student. You just have to guide them to manage themselves, their time and their research.
Your job as supervisor is to HELP students through their project journey, ensuring they meet the necessary deadlines and requirements.
You are there to support them and encourage when they give up or are discouraged.
You are to meet with the student regulary during each phase of the project.
Students have been given clear instructions on how to best work with their supervisors. For more information, please click here.
It is recommended that you meet with your student once a week (to start with).
These meetings aim to:
Your job is NOT to tell the student what to do - this needs to come from them - however, they may need help and encouragement at first, while they get used to this way of working independently.
Any queries or concerns, please contact Vicky Williams immediately.

This year, students will be writing or preparing a draft of each part of their report as they go through the experience in the process of the project.
Exact deadlines for each stage can be found here.
It is important to note that students have a choice of how to present their final report:
Each option requires the same level of effort from the student in order to be sucessful. There is no easier choice. It is important that students choose a report format that is best suited to them.
For more details on the exact requirements of each option, please click here.
If you are unsure as to what to recommend to your student, please do not hesitate to ask. There are many of us who will be supporting your students through this process.
Once a decision has been made, students must submit their draft for each section.
Please note that these can only be drafts until the very end - to accomodate for overall word/time/page limits etc.
You should always provide students with feedback on each draft.
Students will receive plenty of support from their Study Skills teachers and the Personal Project Coordinator for this particular part of their project.
