The Personal Project is an important component of Grade 10 and can be both an enjoyable yet demanding experience!
It is seen as preparation for the Diploma Years in Grades11 and 12, as the project is designed to help students develop the skills they will need in order to succeed at Diploma level.
Your student will go through a 'rollercoaster' like experience as they complete the experience - but please remember, though it is an independent project - your student will not be doing this alone!
Support comes in many shapes and forms and from many sources.
The following are some of the many people who will be supporting our Grade 10 students:
In addition to this, every student will be allocated a Personal Project Supervisor who will provide one to one support.
Click here to find out more about those available to support your student and here to find out more about the role of the supervisor.
All Grade 10 Students attend Study Skills classes. The Study Skills curriculum has been carefully designed so as to include all the skills necessary by our students to complete the Personal Project.
This is also complemented by the Advisory curriculum, which also covers key skills for all Grade 10 students.
Study Skills and Advisory lessons take place once a week.
Students are also encouraged to work with this guide, which has been specifically designed to support them.
In addition to the Guide, all students belong to a Managebac Personal Project Group, in which we share key materials and important messages.
The needs of each student will vary as will the role you will need to play as the parent, however, we do recommend the following:
Communication is key - they may not want to share much at first but will hopefully find out that talking about it is a helpful tool.
To make the project more manageble, students work to a set of deadlines that has been carefully drafted.
