What are live data?
Real-time monitoring systems like the MVX are capable of continuously processing most of the parameters of the machines they monitor. These parameters make it possible to identify at any time the operating condition and machine alarm states of the corresponding vibration parameters.
In addition to machine information, MVX systems are able to monitor their own instrument state and alert if some problems occur - eg: sensor fault, internal error, network failure...
These information are then transmitted continuously to third-party applications via the MVX's Modbus TCP output, and/or via the NESTi4 OPC UA server output and can also be displayed into NESTi4 Vision as "live data".
Example 1: Live display for the flat machine list of ONLINE group
Live data is information continuously processed by the MVXs on all the machines they monitor. Two categories are distinguished:
live machine data - e.g. alarm status, operating parameter values, monitoring parameter values (hard)
live instrument data - e.g. sensor fault (open circuit, short circuit, ...), internal error, network failure, monitoring stop, ...
The uploading of live data to the Vision must be activated machine by machine for each MVX concerned; this operation must be done in the INSTRUMENT tab of NESTi4. Once the live data is activated, all the information captured is logged so that it can be both displayed in real time on the Vision screen and allows this information to be consulted in the past with great precision.
Live data is stored in addition to your defined machine-level monitoring & storage policy.
Example 2: Live display for the asset home page of a machine monitored with MVX
Live data are available only for machines monitored with MVX (real time acquisition device)
How to activate & configure Live data
By default, live data is disabled for all machines so Vision cannot display any live data information.
To activate live data, you must use NESTi4, open INSTRUMENT module, click on MVX tab and select the MVX instrument that monitors the machine you want to activate live data:
Live data are recorded into dedicated short term databases (1 / machine) in order to offer optimal performance and the following settings must be defined:
Capture Live Data checkbox to activate (or not) live data mode for this machine
Max live data storage (MB) to define the size of the live data buffer (FIFO storage)
Acquisition period (s) to define the periodicity in seconds of writing new values into the FIFO buffer
NOTE: If you just need to publish live data through OPC UA output without display short term trends in Vision, then you must enter Max live data storage (MB) = 0 in order to keep only the latest value in the short term database.
When do you need to activate "Live data"?
Live data are displayed into Vision and/or through OPC UA server output
"Capture live data" option must be activated into MVX properties (NESTi4 Instrument module) in order to show LIVE DATA of corresponding machines through the Vision and /or the OPC UA server.
Not live data - ie History data - are not concerned by this option and continue to be published independently of this live data option within the limitation of the subscribed license (Vision option, opc ua server option).
