What do we offer?
The Department of Mathematics provides a stimulating learning environment which inspires and motivates learners to achieve their potential. In doing so, we aim to promote positive attitudes and an ethos of fairness and equality.
All aspects of Learning and Teaching embrace the principles of a Curriculum for Excellence. Our pupils will develop the necessary skills and qualities which will ensure that they are equipped for learning, life and work. To face the challenges of the 21st century, each young person must have Mathematical skills. Scotland needs both specialist Mathematicians and a highly numerate population.
We have established strong partnerships with our associated Primary Schools and, throughout S1-3, we continue to develop pupils’ Mathematics and Numeracy skills as part of Broad General Education. We have a course which challenges our learners and provides effective feedback, ensuring that our pupils continue to develop the necessary skills as they make the transition to Senior School. Within the Senior School, students will have the opportunity to study Mathematics at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level.
