Our Rights Respecting PPG and Team are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been successful in achieving our Silver Rights Respecting School Award. This award recognises our continued journey of ensuring Children's Rights by embedding articles through our school ethos, curriculum delivery, supportive learning environment and opportunties for pupil voice. The team received amazing feedback and were highly commended for their work in developing outcomes for all learners and their actions in supporting our community. The pupils should be exceptionally proud of their achievement - well done!
Our PPG demonstrated their continued dedication by already having some great ideas for their action plan for next session. Keep an eye out as the group will be seeking your feedback and your help.
At Seaton we are a Bronze Accredited Rights Respecting School. This means that we are Rights committed and is the first stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award. We are currently working towards our Silver accrediation, Rights Aware.
Children's Rights are at the forefront of our ethos at Seaton School. Cross curricular links to Rights are shared throughout the curriculum with opportunities for pupils to have their say through our Pupil Participation Groups (PPGs), Pupil Council, Assembly Pupil Take over, celebration of achievements and Rights Ambassador Award.
Each of our pupils had the opportunity to create their own Rights Mascot to represent Seaton School. Each class nomiated their favourite design to be entered into the PPG judging panel.
After careful consideration, our panel choose Katie the Rights Respecting cat to represent Seaton School.
Look out for Katie around the school and on our school documents.
Children's Rights are regular discussed in class, with the Right of the Fortnight shared at Assembly. Our Right of the Fortnight focuses on key events in our Seaton calendar and topical events from around the world.
Follow up discussions and activities are then completed in class to give opportunities for our pupils to learn more and ask questions to develop their understanding.
To promote Rights across the school children can be entered in the draw to become a Seaton Rights Respecting Ambassador.
This award is given to pupils who have demonstrated their awareness of their Rights and applied this into their learning.
